More About Our Program

A major goal of NB TIP is to prepare you for a state-registered apprenticeship in a trade you choose. It is not a requirement to take NB TIP before applying to an apprenticeship, but it can be a great help to explore apprenticeship and prepare for your long-term success. You do not need trade experience for this free program. More important is the interest and willingness to show up and work hard. We start with an orientation meeting to explain and answer questions. In this meeting, we ask those who want to take the program to fill out a written application and be scheduled for an interview. Do come to an orientation even if you are not sure about it, because the orientation is to help you learn and then decide.

Once accepted, you will be notified and will begin the 128 hour course which includes classwork, several guest speakers, some homework, and one or two field trips. Those completing the program will get certificates valued by the many apprenticeships we have connections with. During and after the class we will help you explore and apply for apprenticeship programs you think fit well for you. While we cannot guarantee placement in apprenticeship, we will work with you to help you become an apprentice, as many have before you.

Signing Up

You can just come to an orientation without signing up, but registering for it helps us connect with you and plan arrangements. When you click on the register button, you will be asked for contact information and to select the orientation you want to attend.

You must choose one orientation. You must attend the orientation, and if you choose at the orientation to pursue this, you will be assigned an interview which you must attend as well. Select one of the Orientations listed in the registration form, or, you can register by the remaining Option F to sign up for a future class, likely at a different location, which we will advise you of by e-mail when more details are available.

If you have trouble registering, you can e-mail [email protected], but know it may take several days for a response. We hope COVID-19 will not affect class arrangements, and with respect for the health and safety of all involved, we will confirm class dates with those who have been accepted, in the days before the class is due to start.
